Genetic Partner - RRR Ranch - Josh and Jimmie Reynolds

RRR Ranch

Camp Cooley Genetics is proud to announce a Genetic Partnership with RRR Ranch, Josh and Jimmie Reynolds, of Claxton, Georgia.

Josh Reynolds and his father, Jimmie, are natives of southeast Georgia where RRR Ranch is located. While the Reynolds have been in the registered Brangus business for two years, they are definitely no strangers to the cattle business. Commercial cattle have been a part of RRR Ranch since 1989. The Reynolds also own and operate a construction company that Josh’s grandfather started and that specializes in road construction. Regardless whether they are in the construction or the beef cattle business, Josh and Jimmie strive for excellence.

The Reynolds originally focused only on commercial cattle. During their quest to focus on quality, Josh became interested in a calf raiser program which would allow for the utilization of their commercial females to raise purebred embryo transfer calves. Through his research, Josh decided it would be more beneficial if they used their commercial cows to raise their own embryo calves versus raising them for other breeders. With this information at hand, the Reynolds boldly entered the Brangus business, attending their first Camp Cooley Sale in the fall of 2007.

It would be an understatement to say quality is Jimmie and Josh’s number one goal. According to Josh, when he and his dad began looking around at different programs and variety of cattle offered, it only made sense to buy top end genetics. "I want to produce breed changing genetics. There are a few sires that have stood the test of time: Lead Gun, Brightside, Transformer..... and my goal is for future ’breed changing sires’ to come from my herd!"

In their search, Josh and Jimmie discovered Camp Cooley. They were impressed with the genetics and the customer service package offering sales and marketing assistance. RRR Ranch made their presence known at the November 2007 sale. They purchased some of the top donors offered in the sale, as well as, Washington of Brinks as their purebred herd sire. Since their first sale, Josh and Jimmie both have spent countless hours traveling to see Brangus cattle across the country. They have familiarized themselves with, not only the cattle, but also the people in the Brangus business.

RRR Ranch’s progressive approach to this industry is evident through their superior cattle and in their aggressive use of Embryo Transfer. To date, RRR Ranch has utilized 400 embryos and flushed approximately fifty donor cows in 2008-2009. Because of this bold attitude both RRR Ranch and Camp Cooley Genetics are excited to enter a genetic partnership.

The Reynolds are looking forward to working with Camp Cooley Genetics and utilizing the marketing and research power available. As Josh states, "I entered this partnership with the mentality of ’help me, help you’ to advance in the Brangus business." You can look forward to seeing the Reynolds at future Camp Cooley Genetics and Brangus events across the country!
